Methodology: Rough draft of Strategic Directions & Initiatives Framework

  1. “Make the road by walking” (Horton & Freire, 1990): Planning strategically since Jan 2021
    1. Identify the many separate, loosely connected initiatives underway
    2. Group like initiatives in thematic buckets
    3. Create headings for those buckets – headings became four Strategic Directions
  2. Campus feedback and additions: What was missed?
    • Gallery Walks
    • Critical Learning Collectives with the President and Cabinet

(3/29, 4/06, 4/13)

Next Steps

  1. Close out 2018-23 Strategic Initiatives
  2. Strategic Directions Bridge
    1. Add initiatives suggested via Gallery Walks and CLCs
    2. Engage campus in:
        • Solidifying Strategic Initiatives for accomplishing Strategic Directions
        • Organizing Strategic Initiatives by goals: How will each Strategic Directive be achieved? (e.g., rough preview)
        • Identifying objectives, metrics, timelines
  3. Complete draft presented for campus feedback in late August 2023 for review, discussion, possible revision
