The 21st Amendment

Basic Text: Section 1:
The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.
The eighteenth amendment, which prohibits alcohol should be ignored.
Section 2:
The transportation or importation into any state, territory, or possession of the United States for delivery or use therein of intoxicating liquors, in violation of the laws thereof, is hereby prohibited.
Gives the states the right to use their own alcohol laws. Which means that some states continued to uphold the 18th amendment.
Section 3:
This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by conventions in the several states, as provided in the Constitution, within seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the states by the Congress.
This amendment will only go into effect after it has been ratified within 7 years of proposal.
Why Was It Created?
The effect wanted from the 18th amendment, when it was created, was to reduce the amount of drunks on the streets and lower crime rates. Drinking alcohol wasn’t banned as it went against the 1st amendment. And so, the desired effects wasn’t achieved. And, they saw no harm from repealing the prohibition.
Historical Fiction Example
Imagine that you are a bar owner, and since the 18th amendment has been passed you were forced to close down shop due to lack of customers. Now since the 21st amendment has been passed you can re-open shop and sell your alcohol.
