The development of LCSD’s equity work begins with assembly of first Equity Team.

Establishing and defining: Purpose, People, Place, Process, and Power

LCSD’s Equity Team wrote the vision, mission, values,position, and ultimate purpose statement.

The board voted and unanimously voted to adopt the Equity Tool into policy.

The first edition of the Land Acknowledgement was co-written by Equity Team members. Second edition comes with student revisions in 2024.

A tool was developed to help interpret the equity policy.

“Oregon’s Senate Bill 732, as updated by House Bill 2453, requires every school district to establish a District Equity Committee (DEC) by September 15, 2025, to advise district leadership on policies, practices, and conditions affecting students who have been historically excluded, marginalized, or underserved.”
