HOW TO CREATE EFFECTIVE STORYBOARDS

For people who can’t draw!

Pre-Production Step: With your production team, analyze and discuss this statement:

“Everything not in the storyboards is wasted time on the set…” -Famous Film Director

  • Step 1. Team thoughts go on this GDoc Lab Form. ALL must contribute. No duplicate answers. Minimum 10 points by your group. Yes, you can help each other. Follow these steps - analyze, discuss, write! Attribute all points to a team member.
  • Step 2. Watch this video on beginner storyboarding. Use our video “pause” method to stop and discuss main points of the video, then write notes. On your analysis sheet write ten (10) main points for storyboarding in the summary section and briefly why you all think they’re important to the process.
  • (For Team Reporters) FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LAB SHEET!

Production Step (Practice):

  • Step 1. Read the Day 2 Assignment Sheet (CAREFULLY) for this Lab.
  • Step 2. Use this SCRIPT to create your storyboards

***Use your team’s main summary points as your guide! Include your main point when creating your storyboards.***

  • Step 3. Storyboard out this script using the official VP storyboard template. *Remember storyboard sheets are on the gray shelf, bottom slot of the right column!

Post-Production Step (Reflection): Reflect on what you learned in your VP Journal.
