Prep for Basic Chem is not likely considered a Chemistry replacement course for a
4-year program!
Science in the Community - SciCom A & B: introduces students to relevant topics in chemistry, physics, and earth sciences, providing students with a foundation of scientific principles, meaningful applications, and 21st century skills. SciCom includes less math than chemistry or physics, and it focuses on societal issues impacting students’ lives with a focus on problem solving of personal, local and global issues. SciCom is a pre college course intended for students NOT interested in pursuing a career in a scientific or healthcare field.
For Juniors: 4th Year of Math/Science?
*U of MN - will require 4 years of math, and like to see Chemistry AND Physics for MOST MAJORS!

WHAT IS STEM?
STEM is an approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM education
creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators through hands-on learning projects that requires
problem-solving skills.
Requirements:
Global Education Achievement Certificate- Global Scholar Program...is a recognition program that is optional for students to work on, if they plan to complete 4 years of the same World Language.

AP COURSES AT MHS:
AP Physics I & Statistics have “optional” SUMMER COURSEWORK with the ability to earn .25 credit, and prepare for the the school year. You need to sign up for that portion as well as the year-long course!
Staff will connect with students who sign up for a Summer option after registration with more details.

Students earn CVTC credit and high school credit simultaneously, at no cost to their family!
Transcripted credit courses are CVTC courses that are taught in high schools by certified high school teachers using the technical college competencies and grading scale. Students who choose to enroll in a transcripted credit course will earn both high school and college credit simultaneously.

CVTC DUAL CREDIT:
ADVANCED STANDING CREDIT
Advanced Standing agreements allow students to request credit for certain courses that have an articulation agreement established. High School courses must have an 80% competency match and students must receive a "B" or better in order to receive credit. Students receive high school credit immediately after course completion, but only receive college credit upon admission. Credits do NOT transfer out of the WTCS!

Bimonthly Meeting with CVTC High School Specialist [this week for 9th/10th] to review program progress, discuss SUMMER course requirements and next year’s courses. [*Juniors had their meeting earlier this month!]
CVTC HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIES
For incoming 11th & 12th graders who are
interested in pursuing a career in pre-nursing and healthcare an opportunity to complete the prerequisites to the nursing and other health programs and be able to apply to the nursing waitlist after successfully completing this academy.
This will require careful planning of science and healthcare pathway courses, prior to JUNIOR YEAR to be eligible to apply for this academy, but there are many benefits to students/families.
Courses included in this
academy include:

starting this academy with General Anat & Phys.

CVTC HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIES
PRE-NURSING/HEALTHCARE ACADEMY!
For incoming 12th graders who are
interested in hands on, interactive labs on equipment used by local employers such as Nestle, Walmart, Menards Distribution Center, Midwest Manufacturing, JD Manufacturing, Ashley Furniture, Gold N' Plump, and Bush Brothers. Faculty can connect students with local employers looking to hire skilled workers. Students will be introduced to industrial electricity utilizing both classroom and lab experiences, including electrical systems and controls. Students will also learn concepts of component selection, power transmission application, failure analysis, and predictive maintenance techniques in a hands on lab experience.
This will require careful planning for your SENIOR YEAR, but there are many benefits to students/families.
2 of these courses are offered this summer in Eau Claire, if you are unsure you can commit to this full academy in the Fall!
