VISUALLY,

the page

format should be like THIS.

Perfect CITATION Format

  • Author is a person’s name - if not given SKIP IT
    • Do not use the name of a business, organization, group as the author
    • Authors can also be “contributors” - ex. a YouTuber nickname, etc
  • The Publisher and Site name should not be the same
    • If the publisher name is the same as the site, leave the publisher blank (EX: CNN and CNN)
  • No all caps. Check Capitalization
    • follow correct grammar, not the author’s style
  • No vertical lines
  • If date of the source is not given, using Publication date of the page or site (usually in the footer)
  • Use the Date Accessed for all citations (technically optional but we require it)

A Works Cited page needs to be perfect in TWO Ways

Page Format

  • Double space
  • No empty lines between entries
  • Font is consistent & same font as the essay
  • Title is Works Cited - in the center, not underlined, bold, or anything other than regular font
  • Alphabetize the entries
  • Hanging Indent for each full citation (first line is to the left, second and other lines are indented toward the right)

Title will be in quotation marks or italics

Container can be more than one (academic journal & database that “contains” it)

Note punctuation between each part

Location (link or venue)
