What we did last cycle

  • Conformance tests can now run without any beta APIs
  • Introduced Production Readiness Review process
  • Created new Enhancements subproject
  • Updated the KEP format and process
  • On going code org and api reviews
  • Co-sponsored new API Expression WG

Plans for 1.19 and later upcoming cycles

  • Node role label use clarifies the uses for node-role.kubernetes.io/*
  • API Review & Code Org Subprojects
    • Ongoing processes
  • Conformance Subproject
    • Finish moving conformance to use behaviors and introduce profiles
    • Continued investment in building out new conformance tests
  • Prod Readiness Subproject
    • PRR introduced in 1.19 and will be required in 1.20
  • Enhancement Subproject
    • KEP tooling and automation!

How these plans affect you

  • KEPs will need to answer production readiness review questions
  • We will be reaching out to SIGs to review and add behaviors
  • The way you write conformance tests will change a little
  • Tooling will help KEP creation, discovery, promotion, and management

How you can contribute

  • Enhancements sub-project is just ramping up, come join us!
  • API reviewers are always needed - ping us on Slack to shadow some reviews
  • Code org can use help cleaning up dependencies
  • Conformance tests still are woefully low in coverage, please help write some!
  • We need more production readiness reviewers, too
