  4. What tools or techniques will you use to engage students regardless of modality choice?
    • Learn how to use Zoom & Other Tools for Class Engagement (Zoom Tips), Settings, Polling, Video Sharing, Transcriptions, Breakout Rooms, other Tools of Engagement)
  5. Learn & Practice with the technology in a HyFlex Classroom -F148 Faculty HyFlex Sandbox or other Hyflex Classroom
  6. Utilize OIT support resources for classroom support in the HyFlex classroom technology (OIT staff, one sheet, binder with screenshots in each HyFlex classroom)
  7. Share your experiences with other HyFlex instructors (FRCAE opportunities)

Zoom Tips

  1. Share the Full Screen (Not the Tab or Window)
  2. Video Settings- Show a video and have the sound play through the participants speaker
  3. Security: Disable the waiting room and allow participants to share their screen
  4. Play a sound when a student enters “great for virtual office hours”
  5. Show the live transcript/record the session with the transcript to the cloud, and share after class

Homework For Next Week

  1. Complete the Course Design Example Worksheet for two engaging activities
  2. Complete the Technology Rubric for any tech tools used
  3. If you will teach in a classroom without computers or a laptop cart, supply the tiny url and QR code linking to any course engagement activities outside of zoom.
  4. Be prepared to present one or more (time permitting) of your activities in D109 (1/4/24) using the HyFlex course technology (this will be informal but a great opportunity to practice with the HyFlex Technology)
