Classroom Assignments

Students will no longer be assigned to a Cohort. All students will either be In person/In school full days five days a week or Fully Remote full days five days a week.

Every effort has been made to keep students with their current teacher, however, some students have a new classroom and teacher. Each family has been notified if their child will be assigned to a different teacher. Transition plans along with welcome letters are being sent out.

SWIS CONNECTS - ONE-TO-ONE DEVICES FOR STUDENTS

For the 2020-2021 school year, Auburn Public Schools has provided devices (iPads) to all students, K through 12th grade.

GRADES 3-5

      • All SWIS students have been assigned an iPad from the district.
      • Students will continue to be responsible for carrying their iPads to and from school daily.
      • iPads, Google Classroom, and Zoom will continue to be how SWIS students “attend” school should we need to have a remote day or return to full remote learning.

What to expect.

Class time will be focused on instruction and interactions that capitalize on the fact that teacher and student are in the room together.  This is the time when direct instruction takes place, key concepts are presented, discussed, practiced, feedback is ongoing, and misunderstandings are addressed on the spot.

Class Schedules would include:

    • Social emotional lessons and relationship building
    • Rigorous instruction
    • Scheduled times for mask breaks
    • Scheduled outdoor time
    • Scheduled student lunch covered by another staff member
    • Specialist instruction daily
    • Time to prepare students with daily homework as/if needed

Entering the Building

All students and staff will be expected to wear a face mask on the SWIS campus. *Please LABEL the mask with your child’s name, on the interior.

  • A face mask is defined as a cloth or disposable covering that covers the nose and mouth. This can be a disposable mask, or a two layer cloth face covering made from other cloth fabrics.

We have breakaway lanyards for each student so they will have a place to hold his/her mask throughout the day so they do not misplace or lose it. We also have additional masks available if needed.

*Please note, our bus loop will be ‘coned off’ from 9:15-2:15, due to children at play. If you are dismissing your child early, please use the parking lot spaces.
