REGISTRATION PROCESS

For Current 9th - 11th Graders

  • Individualized Letter. Summarizing the registration process and important dates and deadlines for the registration process.

  • Credit Detail Page. So that students can ensure that they are not signing up for classes that they have already taken and passed.

  • Teacher Recommendations: Students’ teachers will recommend students for the 2025-2026 courses based on their academic performance Fall 2024.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

For Current 9th - 11th Graders

  • Graduation Requirements/Credit Checklist 2025-2026. Students will use this document to check off the classes that they have already completed, so that they will know what courses they will need to graduate.

  • Sanderson High School 2025-26 Course Selection Sheet for Grades 10-12. Students will use this document to to pick their courses for the 2025-26 academic year. Please read and follow the directions on this document.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

For Current 9th - 11th Graders

    • Counselors will meet with students through their classes on their scheduled registration date and time during the dates of Feb 13 - March 28:

    • The specific dates that students will register with their counselor are posted on the Sanderson HS Website under Course Registration Information, Students Course Selection Schedule.

    • Students Must Bring:

    • Their Registration Packet with their Course Selection Sheet completed
    • Students should complete their Graduation Requirements/Credit CheckList to ensure they have the classes needed to graduate.

  • Counselors will review the student’s Course Selection Sheet and Graduation Checklist with the student.

  • Then the counselors will enter the student’s course selections into PowerSchool for the student on their scheduled Registration Date.

For Current 9th - 11th Graders

    • Students and parents will receive their Course Verification Sheet the week of April 7

    • Which will provide a list of the student’s Teacher Recommendations and comments and a list of the courses the student selected for the 2025-2026 academic year.

    • If the student does not complete their Registration Course Selection Sheet and/or meet with their counselor to complete their registration, the counselor will select courses for the student.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Complete End-of-Course exams for English II, Math 1, Math 3, and Biology

Must earn 22 credits under Future Ready Core curriculum

Career Development Plan: Required for 10th graders

Art Credit: 9th graders entering 2025 or later must have 1 Arts Credit.

FUTURE READY CORE CURRICULUM

22 Credits

4 English: English I, II, III and IV

4 Math: Math 1, 2, 3, and a 4th math aligned with post-secondary goals

3 Science: Earth/environmental science, biology and a physical science (physical science, chemistry or physics)

4 Social Studies: World History, Civic Literacy, American History and Economics & Personal Finance

1 Health/PE: Healthful Living

6 Electives: 2 must be in the arts, world language or career-technical education disciplines

HONORS/ADVANCED PLACEMENT

(AP) COURSES

  • Honors level exists in all core courses, some electives, and higher level arts courses.
  • Honors courses are weighted at +.5 and AP courses are weighted at +1.0 in your GPA.
  • Students who perform well in Honors level courses may be recommended to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
  • Students who perform well in AP courses and earn a 3 or higher on an AP exam may earn college credit.
  • If you are interested in taking Honors or AP courses, you should talk to your teacher or counselor.

  • Students will need to use their copy of their Credit Details Sheet that provides their Grades to complete their Graduation Requirements Checklist

  • After the students put a checkmark next to each course they have completed on their Graduation Requirements Checklist, then students will know which courses are needed to select on their Course Selection Sheet for the 2025-2026 academic year.

  • Students need to ensure:
    • They have completed the 2-page course selection sheet.
    • Selected 8 courses:
      • 4 Core Courses
      • 4 Electives
    • Write in 4 Alternates in case their 4 Elective choices are not available.
    • For every course selected that requires an application, audition, or teacher recommendation, students must list three course options they would drop if they are approved for the above mentioned course(s).
    • Bring their completed Course Selection Sheet with them on their Course Selection Date.

  • Students please look up your scheduled date and time to meet with your counselor for them to select your courses in PowerSchool with you.
    • This is the planned schedule, which is subject to change, please confirm your course selection date at least 24 hours in advance by checking with your teacher and viewing the Course Selection Schedule link below.

  • Students your teacher will bring you to the cafeteria or the media center on your Course Selection Date.

  • Students must bring the following with them to their course selection session:
    • Course Selection Sheet, with their courses selected including their 4 alternate choices.
    • Students will meet with their counselor and their counselor will enter their selected courses into PowerSchool.
    • If students do not come prepared their counselor will pick their courses for them.

PARENT/GUARDIAN

COURSE VERIFICATION SHEET

Due April 25, 2025

  • Students will receive their Course Verification Sheet the week of April 7 in their 2nd Period Class to take home for their parent and/or guardian to review and/or make changes to their course selections.

  • The Course Verification Sheets are due by Friday, April 25 to their 2nd period teacher.

  • Students have from February 5 through April 25 to change their mind about their course selections for any reason.

  • Any requests for course selection corrections after April 25 will need to meet specific Course Correction Guidelines to be approved or not approved.
