Classroom Limits

As a security measure, some activities in Classroom have limits depending on the type of account you have. If you reach a limit, you can’t complete the activity.

Class limits

For all types of accounts, Classroom has the following limits per class:

Maximum number of teachers: 20

Maximum number of members (teachers and students): 1,000

Maximum number of guardians that can be assigned to a student: 20

Activity or feature	Limit

Classes you can join	100 maximum, 30 per day
Class size (teachers and students)	250
Class-member invitations you can send	100 per class, per day

Additional limits on personal Google Accounts

Create a Class

To create a new class you must be on the homepage. Access the homepage by clicking on the 3 lines (upper left corner) and selecting ‘classes’

Students only have the ability to join classes, unless your district’s Google administrator has enabled the ability to create a class.

The announcement will be displayed on the class stream. Once post you have the ability to move to the top, edit, delete, or copy the direct link (URL).

Move to top - moves the post to the top of the stream

Edit - edit the post

Delete - remove the post permanently

Copy link - get the direct link to the post to share with students

Assignment - any classroom you need to share with students and assignments you need them to turn in.

Quiz assignment - Google Form quiz

Question - ask a short answer or multiple choice question

Material - post resource materials, such as class rules, syllabus, etc.

Reuse post - prevents you from starting from scratch - select a post that you have already created and change the information, if needed

Topic - create topics so that the posts are sectioned accordingly

On the Classwork page you have a selection of options to choose from.

With Quiz Assignment, Classroom creates a blank quiz using a Google Form that is attached to the assignment. You can edit and add questions to the form quiz.

Transfer Ownership of Class

If you have a G Suite for Education account, you can transfer ownership to a co-teacher in your domain. If you’re using Classroom with a personal Google Account, you can transfer ownership to a co-teacher with a personal Google Account.

Parent/Guardian Access

Parents can get daily or weekly email summaries of their students work. The summary includes missing work (work that is late at the time of the email), upcoming work (work due today and tomorrow), and class activity (announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers)

Teachers have the ability to turn on originality reports (only 3 assignments per class) which will scan a student’s turned in assignment and compare it to web pages. It will provide the teacher with a report. Read more here
