Barcode- Typical payment method when purchasing a magazine

Cover model- Usually a well-known actor/actress to draw the reader's attention (Gary Oldman)

Colour scheme- Neutral colour scheme including black, white, yellow and red which in my opinion is suggesting an older target audience due to the not so vibrant colours, targeting more social groups (A-C2).

Masthead- it's clear and stands out from the rest of the cover with its yellow background, its simple.

Plug- copy that will feature inside the magazine, the red circle in the bottom left corner, stands out

Left side third- introduces Gary Oldman as the main character in a new spy film, plugs of other films towards the bottom section of the cover, the cover follows a 'Z' format which is common in magazine covers

Cover lines- article given prominence on the cover giving it more attention and making it more likely for the reader to read those articles

Interaction through banner- 'massive winter preview' at the top of the screen will take the reader's attention as it is one of the first thing they will see, this will create a sense of excitement for the reader.

Masthead- Is in right red which is showing a sense of darkness and evil as the 3 characters on the cover are all villains in the film, so this has a link, clear, bold and stands out. 'Star Wars' in big text stands out also and is central which catches the eye of the reader straight away.

Barcode- used for payments in magazines.

Plug- There are several plugs of other films between the skyline banner and main masthead, this gives the audience more excitement that there are a few other films that will be spoke about in the edition.

Cover Model- In this cover there are 3 models who are all villains in the film, also 3 well-known actors. This gives the audience a sense of excitement.

Plug- the magazine plugging their own fold out collector's version to be seen inside the magazine, more money that consumers may spend their money on. Also above the masthead, 'villain cover, 1 of 2'' meaning there is another version that can be purchased

Plug/Cover Model- Christian Bale to be the new Darth maul and plugging the new film with potential new star, Christian Bale is a very well know actor and has stared in films such as American Physco and Christopher Nolans The Batman Trilogy so this would be an exciting thing for the audience and would intrigue them.

Masthead- the masthead is central and above the cover model's head which makes the audience view them both as they both stand out, 'CONTENTS' in block capitals and red linking to the cover and the cover film, Star Wars The Force awakens.

Skyline- the banner at the top of the page 'EMPIRE'

Plug/Cover lines- 7 other new films plugged by the magazine which gives more excitement for the audience

Border- in this contents page there is a black border, most content pages have border to keep all the information in one place.

Skyline- below the skyline there is the webpage link to the empire website so consumers can purchase other magazines and view different things on the website

Colour scheme- the colour scheme here is red white and black linking to the villain star wars cover, this colour scheme is suggesting the target audience is an older demographic

Plug- another total film magazine being advertised, consumer interaction as it will be likely that the consumer goes to look at this promoted magazine.

Masthead- most contents pages have a masthead stating 'CONTENTS' in block capitals so it is clear that it is the contents page, it is 100%.

Plug- description of some of the most exciting articles/pages in the issue, promotion of new films.

Cover models- James Jude Courtney playing as Michael Myers and another model at the bottom of the page who seems to be from an action film. Having Michael Myers as the cover model is a great way to get audiences to be more engaged and it also leans towards the next issue which is all about the new Halloween Kills film.

Cover lines- teasers for lots of new films being released grabbing the reader's attention and making them want to buy the issue when it comes out as it is being hyped up, arouses curiosity from the reader.

Colour scheme- like the empire contents page the colour scheme is red white and black but mainly white, aimed at an older demographic, A-C2

Left side third- most of the copy is placed on the left-hand side of the screen to encourage readers to carry on reading. We also see this typical 'Z' formatting starting in the top left hand corner making way down to the bottom right-hand corner.
