PTMS Heritage Night Sign Up Information

Overview

  • Heritage night will feature community run booths representing different cultures/countries
  • Guests at the event will receive a “passport” and can get stamps at each booth. Completed passports will earn prizes.
  • There will also be performances from the community of cultural music, dance, poems, athletic demonstrations, etc.
  • Food trucks will be selling food as well

Heritage booths

  • Heritage booths will have a decorated table with a tri-fold and other cultural artifacts
  • PTMS will provide the table, plain/undecorated tri-fold, basic table covering, 2 chairs, and passport stickers/stamps
  • Booth hosts must provide at a minimum 3 of the following: traditional attire, musical instruments, games, sports, arts and crafts, traditional table covering, or other unique features (please no food)
  • Tri-folds should include a map of the country/culture, location on the world map, languages spoken, currency, flag, important figures, descriptions of food and festivals, and fun facts
  • Hosts will need to establish what will earn a passport stamp (learning a phrase in the language, a dance move, playing a game, answering a trivia question, etc.)

Performances

  • Performances should be about 3 minutes long
  • Performances must include at least 1 PTMS student participant
  • Performers will need to provide a description of the performance and include the country/culture of origin
  • Ideas for performances include traditional dance, musical performance, martial arts/athletic demonstrations, or poetry readings
  • Performers should also submit 2-3 songs for the playlist from their culture/country that are school appropriate
