Full Time Virtual Enrollment Process

  • RVA Student Services Coordinators/Counselors build schedule with family
  • Student and family attends New Student Orientation
  • Consortium School Counselors are also included to review graduation requirements, in-building classes, etc.

  • Book based and online options available
  • Home Mentor has more involved role
  • RVA Teacher meets frequently with student and parent/mentor
  • Same teacher typically follows student through elementary school

  • Book based and online options available
  • Most students are transitioning to more online live direct instruction including electives
  • Each student has a RVA homeroom teacher as well as home mentor
  • Students could have multiple teachers for live subject-area classes
  • Similar aspects to prepare for HS (live classes, progress checks, Buzz)

  • Mostly online direct instruction or independent courses
  • Different teachers for different subject areas
  • Activity Period Teacher
  • OnCourse for At-Risk Programming
  • Two Semester School Year & Optional Summer School

  • Live Instruction Courses
    • 30 minutes daily direct instruction per class
    • 24/7 access to content & live classes are recorded
  • Independent Courses
    • Mostly for electives or credit recovery
    • RVA teacher oversees progress
  • In-building classes
    • Students can take up to ½ of their courses in building pending resident school approval
    • All in-building rules apply to RVA students while taking classes in-building
