Between 1500-1830 both North Americans and Latin Americans had distinct racial ideologies. They differed from region to region but were rooted in Europeans overseeing the black and Native American population. The racial ideologies differed in their treatment of Native Americans, Africans, and mixed races.

Is this a thesis statement that would score?

Yes Clearly addressed sim/diffs, both regions, & effects.

The ideology is “rooted in Europeans overseeing …”

The ‘oversee’ verb is plausibly an idea, and the “rooted in” further strengthens the interpretation that “overseeing” is not an example of an “overseer”

It is an intangible.

Common Errors with this Question

Lack of Analysis

Frequently failed to provide analysis. Responses either omitted this task entirely or reversed cause & effect.

Others attempted analysis, but that effort did not provide an explanation of a reason for a similarity or difference between the regions.
