  • A ruin of a gothic castle, whose history dates back to the Celtic period
  • In the 2nd and 4th century – protect the Roman Empire from barbarians
  • 19th century - the castle got attacked by Napoleon and since then - a ruin

  • One of the dominant things is a slim tower above the rivers and a gate, through which you enter the castle
  • Other popular thing - a well, 55 metres deep
  • Some of the areas of Devín are now used as museums, showing us the remnants of the castle´s history

  • A bunch of legends are a part of this castle and it is one of the most popular cultural monuments in Slovakia
  • One of the legends is about Omar and Fatima
  • A well has been preserved here from those times

��In the year 1790 it almost got destroyed by a fire. �Later it got under a reconstruction and in present, there are many exhibitions about the castle´s history.�His first popular owner was Matúš Čák Trenčiansky. �For a long time, the castle´s purpose was to protect it from the outside invasion and to protect the borders of Hungary.

  • Construction began in the early 13th century until the 15th century
  • Double fortification, parish church, system of walls
  • In the 14th century, the castle was rebuilt and became a cithadel of the Middle Ages

�In the past it had a protection function. In the 15th century it was a centre of the earl and it got attacked by the Hussites. Later, the castle came under Turkish invasion, but the protection system was so good, they didn´t manage to conquer it. Since then, the castle stayed the same till the present.�

  • The Holocaust Museum was a concentration camp
  • Five original buildings of the former camp for the Jewish
  • Place connected to the tragic period of the solution of the Jewish question in Slovakia during the World War II.
  • Memorial to the murdered Jewish in Slovakia, more than 16,000 people passed through the Sereď camp, most of them were murdered during the Holocaust

  • Contemporary documents, photographs and objects related to the persecution of the Jewish in Slovakia
  • One of the artefacts is a cattle wagon in which the Jewish were deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp
  • First part of the exhibition - visitor is introduced to the issue of the Holocaust in Slovakia
  • Barrack No. 3 - presents life in the Sereď camp, where the Jewish were forced to work for the state, which for racial reasons deprived them of their civil rights, imprisoned them and eventually deported them

  • Back in history, this area was a witness of different fights

  • In 1973 was made a decision to build Petržalka to it´s present looks
  • the biggest district, the most densely populated district in middle Europe
  • There lives around 115 000 people
  • During communism it was popular for it´s high crime rate and was called a concrete jungle

�Apart from this, it has a lot of beautiful places such as the oldest public park in Central Europe. This park contains for example the oldest tree that survived the Napoleon wars. The other interesting places here are bunkers from the World War II.�

  • Memorial to Soviet soldiers, design of architect Jan Svetlik, completed in 1960, located on the foothills of the Small Carpathians
  • Height of 52 metres
  • Mass and individual graves in which are burried total of 6 845 soldiers of the Red Army
  • Because of Slavín, The tower of St. Mary's Church had to be demolished, because it exceeded 50 metres in height - no building could be higher than Slavín at that time
