Why VTPBIS SU/SD Coordinators?

Research shows that one of the greatest predictors of sustainability is:  

  • District administration actively supports PBIS (e.g., describes SWPBIS as a top priority, provides clear direction) and embeds into school and/or district policy (e.g., action plansschool improvement plans, mission/vision statements)

SU/SD Coordinator Role

  • As member of the SU/SD Leadership Team, the SU/SD Coordinator develops and follows a long-range (3-5 year) plan for implementation of PBIS with specific goals and strategies that are aligned with other SU/SD and school initiatives;
  • Facilitates communications with State TAs and VTPBIS Coaches;
  • Ensures implementation readiness and ongoing fidelity of implementation;
  • Identifies and secures needed resources;
  • Participates in relevant PBIS trainings;
  • Attends the schools’ PBIS Leadership Team meetings a few times during the school-year; and
  • Conducts fidelity of implementation measures and assist schools with other PBIS data tools (training to be provided).

Why VTPBIS School Coordinators?

  • The VTPBIS School Coordinator is the ultimate “cheerleader” and advocate for PBIS at the building level

  • Provides technical assistance and support to the leadership team and school staff to improve implementation of the components of PBIS

School Coordinator Role

  • Scheduling and facilitating monthly leadership team meetings;
  • Attending VTPBIS Coordinators Meetings two/three times per year;
  • Facilitating communications with SU/SD Coordinator, VTPBIS Coaches and State TAs;
  • Ensuring ongoing fidelity of implementation; and
  • Supporting school leadership team in the completion of evaluation tools, action planning and continuous improvement.

Our Universal team used the TFI and SAS to identify goals for the fall and to create a 3-year PBIS professional development plan for our school. The TFI, SAS and Learning Walk data was reviewed whole-staff at the end of the year, further setting the stage for our upcoming work.”
