The elements of hip-hop came together in the Bronx borough of new York city. It was the early 1970s and the times were tougher than usual for the poorer parts of urban America. From a whole lot of nothing and a whole lot of imagination hip-hop took form. Popular artist in those times where

  • Kool herc

Greatest albums

Album covers have developed differently over the years that hip hop rap was made but you can still see some of the similarities in some album covers today and the ones years a.

Most hip hop album covers like to use black in their album cover they like to use low-key lighting as well the text are also normally in bright colors like red and white and grey you can see these types of design in the album covers today so covers have more design and like to break away from the black theme and use more bright colors

This is an album cover in 1990 as you can see the whole background is black and the text is in bright red to make it stand out and the artist name is written in white as well to give it more design than just using red again

This is a hip hop album cover that came out in 2020 it has a lot of black and red on the side to make it stand out more the text is also in black the main thing that links this album cover to the other one is how dark it is the low-key lighting makes them both seem kind of similar

This is just an example of the album covers in hip hop rap not all album covers use a lot of black there are a lot of hip hop album covers with bright colors

The fact is that most hip hop album covers use a lot of dark colors in their album covers and that is just how it is and how it has been for a while

The two magazines I picked where XXL and the source both of these magazines are both based on the genre of hip hop and they are very similar to each other here is how

Both of these mastheads are both in the same position on the top of the magazine which is the usually position what makes them similar is that they are in the same color a bright red which helps to stand out and draw attention

Both of their names are in bold this brings attention from their fans and people in the hip hop

They both have barcodes

Both the main images are in the center and take up most of the magazine this helps bring attention when they see a popular hip hop artist on a magazine

Drawn Drafts

These are my drawn drafts and for all of my drawn drafts they have a lot of things in common and i like to keep the layout simple the thing that stayed the same is the main image when i make my magazine i want to make the main image the main focus of the magazine so the main image will take up all the magazine space so that it can stand out the cover lines can be in different positions because i dont want it to stand out more than the main image

14 of 16

Digital Drafts

These are just some of my digital designs the think that i want to make certain of is that the main image has to be the main focus of the whole magazine but the cover lines and the logo can be placed anywhere and and can be in any size as long as it doesnt take the focus away from the main image

16 of 16

Off-Site Photoshoot

These are just some of off-site photoshoot i did a range of different poses and camera angles because of the background it made the photos turn out better
