Assessment Authoring System

As part of ODE’s new contract with Cambium, it included creation and rollout of a new assessment authoring system

Assessment Authoring allows for teachers and districts to build tests from a bank of thousands of test items

Available to districts and schools as of August 1, AASCD will be rolled out September 11

Assessment Authoring

​

• The Assessment Authoring platform is the editable version of the “Restart Readiness Assessments”/“Readiness Assessments.”
• These assessments consist of released OST questions.

Student Rostering

• Instructions - TIDE User Guide p. 24
• Routine student rostering is recommended ex. quarterly or monthly. Routine rostering informs teachers of when new students will be in the system.

To log in to Assessment Authoring, go to the OST portal at oh-ost.portal.cambiumast.com. Select the Teachers and Test Administrators tab. On the next page, click the Assessment Authoring system card. Enter your username and password, and then click Secure Login to continue.

When logging in to the system using a new device or browser, or after clearing the cache on a previously used browser, you will see an Enter Code page.

​

If you see this screen, you will need to enter the code on this page within fifteen minutes of receiving the email. If you do not receive a code or do not enter the code within the fifteen-minute time limit, click Resend Code. Click Submit after entering the authentication code to access the system.

You will need to reset your password in the following situations:

•You forget your password.

•Your activation link expired.

•Your account is locked because you exceeded the account login attempt limit.

•It is a new school year.

​

To reset your password, click the Forgot Your Password link. You will be taken to the Reset Your Password page. Enter your email address and click Submit. You will receive an email from DoNotReply@cambiumassessment.com with instructions to reset your password.

• Log into TIDE to gain access to the TA interface

​

• The new system is accessed from the same location as other CAI systems, e.g., TIDE, the TA interface, CRS. A new card will be added to the portal to access the new system.�
• Once tests are built and published, the custom tests are administered and reported using the same systems as the summative assessments.

• In the system, you can view the items that are loaded in the system using the View Item Libraries button. �
• You can use the Tests tab to create custom tests by searching for items to add, or use the test generator wizard to set some parameters to automatically generate a test. E.g., subject, grade, standards, number of items.

• All of the benchmark and checkpoint tests are pre-loaded in the assessment authoring system, so you can view the items before administering them to your students. You can also add or remove items to them.

Benchmark Assessments

​

If launched from the new Assessment Authoring portal:

• NO Report scaled scores - displays comparison with state average averages
• NO Performance level distributions - 3 or 5 color-coded levels for each assessment
• Full-length assessments - similar to actual OST
• Each has two parts like OST; can be stopped and started by the teacher
• Item analysis reports
• Can be previewed, edited, and shared across district

If launched from the old Readiness Assessment portal:

• Reports scaled scores - displays comparison with state average averages

• The item libraries tab allows you to use various filters to find items you may want to use on a test.

​

• From this tab, you can favorite items, or create custom labels to help identify them when you are creating a test.

• Authoring includes all Grades 4 and 6 Social Studies items as well as all high school physical science items

• From the tests tab, after clicking on Create New Test, the same search filters appear to find items to add to a test.

​

• Add as many items as you want to the test, then click Publish Test to make this new test available to assign to students in the TA interface.

• Use the test generator wizard by first setting basic settings: test name, grade, subject. �
• Then select the content standards for the test. You can align to a reporting category or individual standards.�
• In the example in the screenshot, I have selected grade 3 math, geometry reporting category. There are 30 items available to add to a 10-item test

• Teachers will also have the ability to collaborate in creating and sharing assessments for use

• District-level users will also be able to create tests and share these tests with their teachers

• Once a test is published, it will be available for the test administrator to choose in the Test Administrator Interface.

• Depending on the user role, test windows can also be established for tests

• Allows for printing of student booklets and teacher booklets which include scoring guides (all items hand-scored)

Test scores will be reported into the Centralized Reporting System as with all other state tests

Practice Tests

• Practice Tests still exist
• Test-takers sign in as “guest”
• Test-taker data are not captured (the teacher cannot see how the students score unless you hover over their shoulders)
• Easy access - may be used by unrostered new students or teachers without OEDS permissions

• Replacing an existing district assessment with a Readiness Assessment
• Using Checkpoint or teacher created common assessments for Teacher Based Teams (TBT) data
• Approving Readiness Assessments as High-Quality Student Data (districts make this decision)
