•The 10 Commandments

•The ceremonial law

The law of God

The law of Moses

7 of 28

What difference is there between these two kinds of law?

8 of 28

The ten commandments

The ceremonial law

They are called LAW OF GOD.

(Romans 7:22)

It is called Moses' law

(Acts 15:5)

For I delight in the law of God...

1

…to keep the law of Moses.

It was placed inside the Ark of Covenance, the most sacred place which is a symbol of the throne of God.

It was placed next to the Ark of the Covenance.

(Deuteronomy 10:1-5)

(Deuteronomy 31:25-26)

…and thou shalt put them in the ark.…

…Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant…

The law is compared to a mirror, it shows our sinful condition.

The ritual law was for the remission or expiation of sins.

(Romans 7:7)

(Hebrews 9:23)

…Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law…

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood…

It is a way of life that should abide by.

It was just a symbol that pointed towards Christ.

(1 Timothy 1:8-10)

(Hebrews 9:9; 10:1)

…But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully…

…Which was a figure for the time then present…

The prophecy said that Jesus would magnify the law.

With the sacrifice of Jesus,

all the old sacrifices lost their value.

(Psalms 40:8; Isaiah 42:21)

(Hebrews 10:5-9)

…thy law is within my heart…

…He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

It is possible to keep the Ten Commandments with the help of God.

The Law of Moses was impossible to keep.

(1 John 5:3)

(Acts 15:10)

…his commandments are not grievous.

…a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?.

The law of God is perfect

It does not leads us to perfection

(Psalms 19:7)

(Hebrews 7:19)

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul…

…For the law made nothing perfect…

We will be judged according to the law.

Having lost his validity, cannot be as a criterion of judgment.

(James 2:10-12)

…as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

It is eternal, it was not abolished by Christ.

It was abolished by Christ

(Psalms 111:7-8; Matthew 5:17).

(Daniel 9:25, 27; see Hebrews 7:12).

…all his commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever…

…and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…

CONCLUSION

21 of 28

Why were the Ten Commandments not abolished after Christ‘s death?

22 of 28

In the New and Old Testaments the mirror of God’s Holy was necessary so man could recognize sin. What changed was the way forgiveness was received.

In the Old Testament, a lamb, which took the place of the sinner and pointed forward to Christ, had to be sacrificed, while in the New Testament, when we see our sins in relation to the law, we go directly to Christ through faith. When the Saviour came, the ceremonial law that represented Him was no longer necessary.

23 of 28

What did Paul say about circumcision? Was it a part of the ceremonial law?

24 of 28

Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

1 Corinthians 7:19

25 of 28

Logic tells us there are advantages when we live according to the eternal moral code, for God’s promises are for those who keep His law.
