Recap - To Do List

  • Reflect on the elements of the Guided Reading process that have inspired adjustments to your teaching practice. Have a coaching conversation with your in-school mentor about these reflections and the homework goals below.
  • Practice at least two elements from the Guided Reading Framework where you will make practice adjustments. These must include Making Teaching Points and designing a Response to Text. [Video record or screencast any implementation if you are comfortable doing so and reflect on your practice].
  • Try out making brief observation notes to share with at least one learner for at least two Guided Reading sessions. Consider using the same sheet across sessions to discuss patterns of need and improvement with the learner.
  • Have a follow up coaching conversation with your mentor to discuss changes in practice. You may want to share segments of your practice video.
  • For next time: Bring your reading or literacy timetable to share.
