This type of house is commonly referred to as Victorian style but this "style" is really a period in history. The Victorian era corresponds to the time when Queen Victoria ruled Britain (1837 to 1901). During this time, industrialization brought many innovations in architecture. There is a wide variety of Victorian styles, each with its own distinctive features.

In general, Victorian houses have all sorts of decorative elements to them. This house has what is called “gingerbread trim” which means the brackets and posts are cut into fancy shapes and look like something that would be on a cookie.
