STATE IS A CLASS ORGANISTION

• According to marxists ,in every period of history , the state has remained a class organisation.
• It always protects the interest of the rich class.
• According to lenin. “The state is nothing but the machine of suppression of one class by another”.

STATE IS NOT A NATURAL AND ETHICAL INSTITUTION

• According to famous greek thinkers the state was a natural institution but Karl Marx was contrary to this opinion.
• According to him, how can a state be natural if it’s preserving the interests of one particular section of society.

STATE IS RESULT OF REVOLUTIONARY PROCESS

• According to Marxists , in ancient time there was nothing like private property and this was the age of primitive communism.
• But gradually with time the concept of class division emerged.
• This class division was result of revolutionary process.

STATE IS A TEMPORARY INSTITUTION AND IT SHALL WITHER AWAY

• According to marxists, the state is temporary and it will exist as long as the classes exist.
• The main aim of marx is to establish a stateless society to which ENGLES says “complete democracy”.
• In this system , everyone will do work according to their capabilities and will be payed according to their needs.
• In other words, it will be a SOCIALIST STATE.

STATE PROTECTS OF RULING CLASS

• According to Marxists, the class which has control over production and means of production has control over state and state protects their interests only.
• Capitalists state is dominated by the rich people.
• But if proletariat society establishes it will help to crush the capitalists state and then state will protect the interests of all citizens.

FORCE IS BASIS OF THE STATE

• T.H Green consider WILL as the basis of state but opposite to this Marxist believe that today’s state has force as it’s basis.
• According to them the state is a power institution and jails, prisons, armed forces are the symbols of power.
• These power symbols are used to crush the interests of poor.

WELFARE STATE IS A MERE EYEWASH

• The welfare functions that are done in capitalistic state is to pacify the anger of those who oppose it.
• As a result of social revolution a new consciousness emerges among the poor and they accept that capitalist state is the root cause of all problems and they get organised to overthrow it.

��CRITICISM OF MARXIST VIEWPOINT OF THE NATURE OF THE STATE

STATE IS NOT THE PRODUCT OF CLASS STRUGGLE ALONE

• Marxist believe that state is an outcome of class struggle alone is not right.
• The origin of class struggle is based on various other factors like blood relations,social nature of individual, force and political consciousness are contributor to it.
• We accept that the economic conflict has it’s share in birth and development of state.

STATE DOESN’T PROMOTE THE INTEREST OF ONE CLASS ALONE

• MARXISTS believe that present state protect the interests of one class alone is also wrong. Present state is welfare state which promotes equal interests of all.
• A welfare state provides educational, sanitary facilities and water ,air, electricity to all individuals.

STATE IS NOT AN ARTIFICIAL INSTITUTION

• Marxists believes that state is not a natural institution is also considered wrong
• The state is a natural institution with various factors like human nature religion, force economic warfare have played important role in it.
• Besides this , the nature of sate keeps changing from time to time and present state is a democratic welfare state.

STATELESS SOCIETY IS NOT POSSIBLE

• The marxists talk about the establishment of stateless society with no class left in society.
• But this concept is not valid in real world because the state is needed to establish external and internal peace as no other association can do this.
• The present state establishes reconciliation among opposite interests and this maintains peace and harmony.

MARXISTS VIEW OF NEW SOCIETY IS NOT REAL

• The marxists view of new society is far rom reality.
• A society with mostly impartial justice,absolute liberty and equality with these amount of exploitation and individual getting payed according to his needs is only possible in ‘DREAM WORLD’ or ‘ FAIRY LAND’.

FORCE IS NOT THE BASIS OF STATE

• Unlike marxists who believes that force is the basis of state T.H Green says that ‘Will is the basis of the state’.
• The stability found in democratic state and the instability in dictatorship state supports the believe of T.H Green.

STATE DOESN’T EXPLOIT RATHER IT’S A MEAN OF WELFARE

• Marxist belief that the state is an instrument of exploitation is considered wrong by various other scholars.
• They believes that the present state is an instrument of welfare and it’s purpose is to make individual life more comfortable
• The state is taking various steps toward it already.
