About us�
Anu Tandon Vieira is a graduate in Sculpture, with a Post
Graduate degree in textiles from National Institute of Design (NID).
She is passionate about designing sustainable, comfortable and exquisitely hand-crafted furniture by re-purposing material waste from urban jungles.
The Retyrement Plan(Mumbai,India) from Vieira is a range of occasional furniture pieces using discarded tyres of all shapes and sizes,cane and bamboo, woven over with ropes twisted out of tailoring waste and in shimmering plastic wrapper waste.
At The Retyrement Plan, the people behind the scene are central to the way the brand is conceptualized and built. Forced migration to urban centres is a major concern in the Indian metropolis. Left without sustainable livelihoods, skilled workers are compelled to uproot their lives and adopt unskilled professions in cities. The loss here is a deeply personal one but also, on a broader scale, a loss of talented craftsmen and the generations of knowledge that they have acquired and now carry.
The Retyrement plan believes that products are only as good as the practices they support. Providing reliable, well paid employment and fair treatment to our craftsmen is foremost among our priorities. Our ethics define us and our products carry forth that legacy, at every step of the design process.
