Jobs in 2030: Preparing our students for jobs that don't even exist yet

Depending on which study you read, over half of our students in grade school will obtain jobs upon graduation that don't even exist yet. How do we keep up? How do we as Professional School Counselors prepare and educate students when we don't even know what we are preparing them for? Let's look at trends, data, and ideas that can help us become advocates for our students as we explore post secondary options of the future.

Session Objectives:......Audience members will: learn about career/post secondary planning tools, gain confidence in becoming advocates for career exploration, collaborate.

The EVOLUTION of Jobs

As much as we often lean on technology, I see innovation as a byproduct of culture. Innovation comes from how we think about a problem, dissect it, and attack it in ways we have not thought of before.

-Peter Kunz, Boeing HorizonX chief technologist.

Innovation is not just technology...it is people, ideas, culture, how and why even more than what.

There is human capital involved.

Grand Park

Indianapolis, IN

An amazing sports park-along the walkway they have pedestals showing all of the different CTE professions involved in the construction of the facility. They also pipe in CTE job

information through the bathroom speakers!
