English 7

The English Language Arts Common Core State Standards emphasize reading, writing, speaking, critical thinking, and listening skills. This class will provide students with the opportunity to write about a variety of subjects focused on practicing the academic forms of writing: narrative, argumentative, and expository.

*Additionally, students were asked to attain a composition book for their journal writings and 1 subject notebook for notes.

*Google Classroom is being used for all digital assignments.

Grading Policy

Policy on late work:

*Work for the quarter may only be accepted up until the end of each quarter. Keep in mind that work not submitted on time may be graded at a later time.

*All submissions are done through Google Classroom.

Classwork 30%

  • I typically make phone/email contact every other week for failing students!

90% and above: A

80% to 89%: B

70% to 79%: C

60% to 69%: D

59% and below: F

Late Work/Extra Credit

  • Late Work
    • Assignments should be completed to the best of your ability and submitted on time.
    • Work for the quarter will only be accepted until the last day of that quarter.
    • I will accept late work at half credit of work provided.

  • Extra Credit
    • There are very limited opportunities for extra credit.
    • Most is for volunteering for presentations the first day.
    • Bathroom, etc passes that were handed out can be turned in at end of semester for extra credit.

    • Mondays: Journal writing for at least 15 minutes. Social emotional topic

    • Tues./Thurs.-Wed./Fri.: Reading, writing, projects, etc.
    • Enrichment:
          • Tues/Wed: Focus on Reading
          • Thurs/Fri: Focus on classwork/writing/project

  • P.R.I.D.E Time
    • Wednesdays: English 7
    • Fridays: Drama Classes
