Why select a new curriculum?

  • Students’ scores on state math assessments are persistently low.
  • Teachers expressed concerns that our current math curriculum was not fully aligned to the updated Framework and standards.
  • Teachers are spending a lot of time finding materials online or creating materials themselves.
  • Teachers expressed a desire for high-quality, engaging resources.

Who will select the curriculum?

  • A Curriculum Review Committee composed of diverse perspectives:
    • 2 principals
    • 1 assistant principal
    • 3 instructional coaches
    • 4 teachers (one from each grade level 5–8)
    • 1 parent

  • Each school has at least one representative on the Review Committee.

How will they make their decision?

The Curriculum Review Committee will:

  • Receive training on the Framework and standards
  • Observe classrooms
  • Use feedback from educators to make a list of key criteria for selection
  • Create a rubric based on the key criteria to objectively evaluate each potential curriculum
  • Narrow it down to finalists
  • Test the materials in classrooms and receive more feedback from educators

When will the decision be made?

  • The decision deadline is May 15, 2026.

  • Staff will receive a brief email each month with key updates on the selection process.
