What is OPTYCs?

The Organization for Physics at Two-Year Colleges

  • $3 million to create and sustain a national community
    • In-person travel
    • Participant stipends for projects

    • 5 groups were formed
  • New Faculty Development Series cohort 1:
    • 16-month program for those in their first 6 years of TYC teaching
    • 19 new faculty, 4 alumni leaders, 4 program coordinators
    • April-May: Virtual journal discussions
    • June: 3-day Immersion conference (Omaha, NE)
    • Now: Implementation phase with mentoring
