Major center of excellence for physics

and/or interdisciplinary research and training,

fully operational in 5 to 10 years

  • Accommodating local and international researchers on a (semi-)permanent basis

  • Performing top-quality theoretical and experimental research in active collaboration with local and international groups

  • Setting up experimental facilities in quantum optics, quantum information and communication and/or adjacent fields

  • Teaching, training and graduate student supervision in several fields of physics:
    • Condensed matter physics
    • Quantum optics and quantum information
    • Quantum and classical statistical physics and mathematics
    • Theoretical high-energy and particle physics, string theory

  • Active visitor’s program:
    • Regular colloquia, seminars and tutorial lectures by top researchers
    • Yearly workshops and summer/winter schools

    • Renumeration for 6 senior and 6 junior (semi-)permanent members
    • PhD and PostDoc fellowships
    • Salaries for 2-3 administration staff
