Students are happy when they are with teachers

Academic work expectations between students and teachers are aligned and reported as manageable
95.3% of teachers report assigning work that should take students no more than 1-2 hours with 60.9% reporting that work should take under one hour. 85% of students report spending between three and six hours on work on their at-home days. With students having approximately a six course load, these numbers align with teacher expectations around time for student work completion. 61.1% of parents report that workload is just right.

In general, students report understanding.
79.2% of students report that they fully understand the content in their classes. 81.8% can easily turn assignments in on Schoology. 75.8% can easily locate assignments on Schoology.
As noted in other areas, directions around assignments seem to be an area of concern for students rather than the content (see Office Hours section).

In general, students feel safe at school and report that safety measures are being followed. The one area of concern for students was around maintaining 6 feet of social distancing particularly in the hallways during passing time and at lunch/recess. This was a theme across student, parent, and faculty responses.

“I like the asynchronous work, but synchronous is much better because we learn more.”
“I think synchronous is better because you can receive help more easily.”
“It's more interactive. I process information better and faster when I am able to directly interact in the classroom. The asynchronous work just feels like homework.”
“One difficulty of not being in-person all the time is understanding directions. When we zoom into classes synchronously we have the ability to ask questions and get further clarification almost immediately, whereas getting a response through an email can take hours or even days.”
“I don’t learn anything at home and I need social contact”
“I think you gain more from synchronous lessons because the teacher is there to help you if you need it.”
“Less work and NO Zooms on asynchronous days (not helpful at all, more stress and its not needed because we can already complete the curriculum in the time that we have, this will just give us even more work even though we already have MUCH more work than usual, with less learning. More work does not mean more learning!)
