Purpose of feedback survey

A questionnaire was designed to provide insights regarding students experience and feedback of the COIL courses and provide recommendations for improvement of future courses.

Methodology

This survey included closed statements and open questions. The closed statements reflected the level of the participant’s satisfaction of the COIL course which was rated according to a Likert scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being very dissatisfied and 5 being very satisfied. The mean and standard deviation were computed for each statement.

There were four open questions:

  1. Before the course what potential challenges or concerns did you foresee?
  2. What did you like most about the course?
  3. How can the course be improved?
  4. Any other comments you would like to make about the course?

Insights from quantitative analysis

  • Participants expressed the highest levels of satisfaction with the English proficiency level, overall course experience, relevance and usefulness of the learning materials, and their willingness to participate in another COIL program.
  • Participants reported lower levels of satisfaction regarding the enhancement of their technological skills, their prior exposure to and awareness of diverse cultures and international perspectives, the extent to which the course enriched their academic understanding of the subject matter, and the effectiveness of communication channels with the instructors.
