Adjust the rear wheel axle

The tools you need.

And your bike.

  • An 8mm Allen Key
  • A torque wrench
  • A 17mm socket or crowfoot wrench
  • A 10mm wrench or adjustable spanner
  • A Gates carbon drive strap or oil filter band wrench�

Steps to follow.

01. Remove the rear wheel.

02. Remove the sprocket and lockring.

03. Tighten the axle bolt.�04. Re-install the sprocket and lockring.

05. Re-install the rear wheel.

Estimated time: ~5 minutes.

01. Remove the rear wheel.

Remove the two nuts from the wheel and unplug the motor cable.�Remove the wheel and place the poke yoke spacer aside.

02. Remove the sprocket and lockring.

Use a sprocket belt to hold the sprocket in place and use a lockring tool and wrench to loosen the lockring, turn anti-clockwise.�Remove the lockring, sprocket and spacer.

03. Tighten the axle bolt.

Hold the axle in place with a 10mm wrench or adjustable spanner and tighten the nut on the axle to 5 Nm with a crowfoot wrench.

04. Reinstall the sprocket and lockring

Reinstall the spacer, sprocket and lockring, mind that the Gates logo is facing inwards towards the hub.�Tighten the lockring to 45 Nm.

05. Reinstall the rear wheel.

Reinstall the rear wheel with the poke yoke spacers, tighten the nuts to and replug the motor cable.
