  1. Q. Downloading aggregate data.

R. You can download some aggregate data for a Campaign on the Dashboard, from the Campaign Overview. For example: https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/campaigns/artfeminism_2018/overview. There is a "Download stats" button below the aggregate stats, which gives you similar options to the ones KC showed for an individual event.

  • Q: tracking certain articles

R. If you use PetScan (or PagePile) to generate the set of articles that you want to track for an event, then you can also use that in the Dashboard to limit the statistics to just edits to those articles. You do this by choosing "Article Scoped Program" when you create the event page, and then from the Articles tab you can set that PetScan query as a tracked category. This also works with on-wiki Categories.

3. Q: Does it mean that the hashtag tool can only track edits or pages only where the specific hashtag is mentioned in edit summary.

R: Yes that is correct! SAGE (Wiki Education): I have a twitter bot that posts articles that need to be expanded, and if someone follows a link from that bot to make an edit, there is a preloaded hashtag, so if the user saves the edit, it will have that hashtag unless they change the edit summary: https://hashtags.wmcloud.org/?query=fixmebot&project=en.wikipedia.org&startdate=&enddate=&search_type=or&user=

4. Q: Is text of the hashtag case sensitive?

R: No, it is not

5. Q: Why is it that individual cannot add themselves to the participants list themselves on the dashboard?:

R: By default, an event on the Dashboard includes a passcode. If an editor knows the passcode, or receives an enroll link that includes the passcode, then they can add themself to the participants list. You can remove the passcode, in which case any user can join the event.

6. Q: I want to be guided on how to activate my wiki mail.

R: you can do this by logging in and then going to Special:Preferences. Email preferences are near the bottom of the "User profile" tab.

7. Q: Where can we access the data for multiple event program. Seems there have been some changes to the dashboard.

R: The main way to do this is to create a Campaign on the Dashboard. (A Campaign is simply a collection of individual programs/events, and one event can be part of multiple Campaigns.) If you navigate to the Campaign's Overview tab, you can see overall statistics and download CSV data.

You can find cumulative data about a Wikimedia project (e.g. English Wikipedia, French Wikisource, Armenian Wiktionary, Wikidata, Wikimedia commons) on Wikimedia Statistics.

  1. Programs & Events Dashboard (Guideline on how to use) Commonly used for editathons, campaigns, individual projects, etc. Provides an easy way to organize groups of editors who are working on common projects, and to keep track of what they are doing and what they've contributed. Good for new edit events, it has some limitations in terms of design and for more experienced editors.
  2. Event Metrics (Guideline on how to use) Enables organizers of events like editathons and content drives to get metrics about those events to understand and demonstrate the scale and impact of their contributions. Wikimedia grantees can use the program to provide grant documentation. Event Metrics works with the following projects: Wikipedias, Wikivoyages, Wiktionaries, Commons, and Wikidata.

Other tools:

Wikimedia Hashtags tool: Guideline on how to use Built by volunteers. Most accurate tool for working with experienced editors involved in lots of different editing activities. Doesn’t support new articles/ images/ items or edits on Wikidata.

Wiki Loves Competitions Tools: tracks Categories on Commons to produce various statistical data sets.
