Form: Large many-stemmed shrub or small tree

Habitat: Moist to wet forest understories, swamps, streambanks, flood plains, etc.

Leaves: Elliptical or ovate shape, opposite or whorled leaf arrangement, entire margin, acute apex, rounded or tapered base, glossy feel
