Student

Students are placed in line for each program based on the rules outlined in each program’s admissions process and priority preferences.

​

CHOICE ELEMENTARY

• The system will match the applicant with ALL programs where their line position meets capacity.

​

SELECTIVE ENROLLMENT PROGRAMS

• Includes– Academic Centers, Classical, RGC and EL RGC
• The system will try to place each applicant in their highest ranked Choice or Selective program.
• All applicants and programs are considered simultaneously.
• As an applicant matches with a program, they are not considered for any programs ranked lower than the offer received.

Applicants are considered for all programs and are waitlisted at any program they do not receive an offer for.

HOW IT WORKS

Waitlist Process

• Waitlists will only be utilized by programs that have not met their capacity during the initial round of offers. (applies to both Choice and Selective Enrollment programs)
• Schools can continue to make offers until the program is full.
• Waitlists will close by the 20th day of school for selective enrollment programs and January of 2024 for choice programs
• There is no cap on how many waitlist offers a student can receive, but you can only accept one at a time.
• Accepting an offer automatically declines other offers received.

Making the Offer

• Once the waitlist offer is made by the school, the offer will be available to the applicant at 8 am the next morning.
• The offer will be available for 2 business days before the seat is forfeited
• Applicants can accept the offer in their GoCPS account.
• All offers expire at 8 am, 2 business days from when the offer went live.

Schools should alert the family that a waitlist offer will be made through phone or email.

The Rolling Waitlist…

• An applicant can be waitlisted for up to 20 choice and 6 selective enrollment programs at a time.
• An applicant can withdraw from waitlists to add themselves to others.
• To participate, applicants can open their existing application and add programs.

LOTTERY BASED PROGRAMS

POINTS BASED PROGRAMS

Applicants can add themselves to the end of the existing waitlist.

Applicants add the program and the waitlist will be resorted into descending total point order nightly.

Students Without a Fall Application:

1. Create a GoCPS account
2. Complete the Registration Form
3. Add programs to the application and join waitlists like everyone else

Program Designations

• Programs with No Eligibility, many seats and or No Waitlist→ applicants will be able to receive an immediate offer.
• Programs with few seats → applicants can join the end of the existing waitlist
• Schools will make waitlist offers as they determine they have space available.
• Points Based Programs → applicants will be placed in descending point order from highest to lowest
• Waitlists will be re-sorted nightly as new students join the waitlist.
• Schools will make waitlist offers as they determine they have space available.
• Programs with long waitlists or no capacity → Applicants can still join waitlists but there is little to no chance of getting an offer.

• There is no Round 2, only Rolling Waitlist now…
• No separate Post Application Process
• Students who did not complete a Fall application will need to fill out the registration form first before getting access to the Rolling Waitlist
• There will be a small Testing window open in the Spring for students who haven't tested before
• SEES testing in May/June
• There will be a step by step registration guide available on the website -available when the rolling waitlist opens
• After a student registers they must log in to view options available to them, request an offer and/or join waitlists.
