My Journey to Ogilvie

Here are some comments from some of our current S1s about their transition to St. John Ogilvie High School.

On the first few days at school I couldn't help but feel quite anxious. I was very worried about having mean teachers and getting lost on my way to the classes, but the fact I would have enjoyable classes and my friends would be with me comforted me and helped ease my anxiety.

The support that I get for all of my work is amazing!

One of the best things about being a pupils at SJOHS is the teachers.

Overall, I would say that my first term at St. John Ogilvie High School has been good and I would advise the soon-to-be new S1s that they shouldn't worry about coming to high school because there are so many people to help and support you.

I felt safe when I started at Ogilvie.

I have met a lot of new friends and allies who share the same interests and can help and support me.

My favourite subject is HE because you get to cook things in class. We have made tomato pasta, apple pie and smoothies.

Before I started at SJOHS I felt very excited about all the classes because of the 2-day visit that I had in May here at SJOHS and about all the clubs (like computing club) that Mrs Brogan told us about when she came to visit us at our primary school.

The best thing about being a pupil at St. John Ogilvie is that you get to go out at lunch to places like the shops, Brunch Box and the chip shop.

I have a Chromebook that really helps me with my learning.

The reason I like computing is because I get to learn how to code in Scratch and how to stay safe on social media.

I go to lots of different classes each day so it stays interesting.

SJOHS is great because I get to learn lots of new things and make lots of new friends.

The teachers make me happy and I like the support that I get in classes.

Term 1 has been smashing!

The best thing about SJOHS  is that there are lots of clubs in school like dance, football, badminton, barbell club, debate club, movie club and Rubik’s Cube Club. There is something for everyone!

I like all the different classes. It makes the day pass so quickly.

The best thing about Ogilvie is that I play on the football team. We have girls and boys teams.

We have a pitch where we can play football everyday at lunch.

We have a library where you can go to borrow books or just to chill out with your friends.

I would give my first term at Ogilvie 10/10!

The reason I like computing is because I get to learn how to code in Scratch and how to stay safe on social media.

I’m loving being a pupils at St. John Ogilvie. It’s a fun and fantastic school to be a part of. Everyone is just so welcoming. My message to the P7s about to transition to high school would be don’t be scared or worried because there is nothing… absolutely nothing to be nervous about! You will love it!
