THE HIGH DOT AND ITS FUNCTION

  • The high dot is usually placed between the strings D and A right where the natural harmonic on 4th position happens. It is a great way of teaching mobility and relaxation on the left hand

FROM REST POSITION TO PLAYING POSITION

  • Each violin teacher has their own way of teaching basic steps and transitions. We create a routine so that the students can easily remember the right order and correct position.

  • Steps to get into playing position:

CHECK POINTS

  • Make sure that the proper hand is being used for the violin
  • Violin goes to the side on top of the shoulder
  • Body stays straight (only the head needs to be adjusted)
  • End button goes against the neck
  • Left hand wrist should be straight

4TH FINGER STRUMMING

  • With your left arm close to the end of the neck of the violin, use your pinky to strum the strings from G to E.
  • The goal is to understand the trajectory of the elbow
