Tips & Tricks:
- Understand WHY you are choosing to use use a flipped classroom model and stay true to that purpose
- Don’t flip your entire class ... Start with one unit or even one lesson. Then you can scrap, shift, or scale your model.
- Keep videos brief (15 minutes).
- If students don’t have access to videos at home, implement a station rotation model where students watch the video in class.
- If students are choosing not to complete the work at home, have them watch the videos while everyone else is doing the hands-on practice.
- Don’t feel like you have to record yourself. Find someone who’s already done it on YouTube.
- Check out EdPuzzle or EduCanon to customize videos (even if you didn’t create them) to pause and have students answer questions throughout the video.
- Begin class with an informal assessment to see what students need you to address in class.
