Christ our Hope in Life and Death
What is our hope in life and death
Christ alone Christ alone
What is our only confidence
That our souls to Him belong
Who holds our days within His hand
What comes apart from His command
And what will keep us to the end
The love of Christ in which we stand
O sing hallelujah
Our hope springs eternal
O sing hallelujah
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death
What truth can calm the troubled soul
God is good God is good
Where is His grace and goodness known
In our great Redeemer's blood
Who holds our faith when fears arise
Who stands above the stormy trial
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh
Unto the shore the rock of Christ
O sing hallelujah
Our hope springs eternal
O sing hallelujah
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death
Unto the grave what will we sing
Christ He lives Christ He lives
And what reward will heaven bring
Everlasting life with Him
There we will rise to meet the Lord
Then sin and death will be destroyed
And we will feast in endless joy
When Christ is ours forevermore
O sing hallelujah
Our hope springs eternal
O sing hallelujah
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death

Song
Worthy is the
Lamb who was slain
Holy Holy is HeSing a new song
to Him who sits onHeaven’s Mercy Seat
(2x)
Holy Holy HolyIs the Lord God AlmightyWho was and is and is to come
With all creation I singPraise to the King of KingsYou are my everythingAnd I will adore You
Clothed in rainbows of living colorFlashes of lightning rolls of thunderBlessing and honor strength andGlory and power beTo You the Only Wise King
Holy Holy HolyIs the Lord God AlmightyWho was and is and is to come
With all creation I singPraise to the King of KingsYou are my everythingAnd I will adore You
Filled with wonder awestruck wonderAt the mention of Your NameJesus Your Name is PowerBreath and Living WaterSuch a marvelous mystery
Holy Holy HolyIs the Lord God AlmightyWho was and is and is to come
With all creation I singPraise to the King of KingsYou are my everythingAnd I will adore You
Holy Holy HolyIs the Lord God AlmightyWho was and is and is to come
With all creation I singPraise to the King of KingsYou are my everythingAnd I will adore You
Scripture Reading
Acts 6:1-7
Acts 6:1-7
1 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.
Acts 6:1-7
3 Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”
Acts 6:1-7
5 This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. 6 They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.
How deep the Father’s love for usHow vast beyond all measureThat He should give His only SonTo make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing lossThe Father turns His face awayAs wounds which mar
the Chosen OneBring many sons to glory
Behold the Man upon a crossMy sin upon His shouldersAshamed I hear my mocking voiceCall out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him thereUntil it was accomplishedHis dying breath has brought me
lifeI know that it is finished
I will not boast in anythingNo gifts no pow’r no wisdomBut I will boast in Jesus ChristHis death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His rewardI cannot give an answerBut this I know with all my heartHis wounds have paid my ransom

Types of Opposition to the Gospel:
Forms of Opposition to the Gospel:
Acts 6:1-7
8 Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)—Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia and Asia—who began to argue with Stephen.
Acts 6:1-7
10 But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke.
11 Then they secretly persuaded some men to say, “We have heard Stephen speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.”
Acts 6:1-7
12 So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin. 13 They produced false witnesses, who testified, “This fellow never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law.
Acts 6:1-7
14 For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs Moses handed down to us.”
15 All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

Trust And Obey
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word
What a glory He sheds on
our way
While we do His good will
He abides with us still
And with all who will
trust and obey
Trust and obey
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey
Not a shadow can rise
Not a cloud in the skies
But His smile quickly
drives it away
Not a doubt nor a fear
Not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we
trust and obey
Trust and obey
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey
But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay
For the favor He shows
And the joy He bestows
Are for those who will
trust and obey
Trust and obey
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey
Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet
Or we’ll walk by His
side in the way
What He says we will do
Where He sends we will go
Never fear only trust
and obey
Trust and obey
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey
