Adonijah N. Chamberlain, Musician, Band, 9th Michigan Infantry�Died December 4, 1861, West Point, Kentucky�Buried in Romeo Cemetery, Romeo, Michigan��Enlisted Company A, Aug. 13, 1861, at Romeo, Michigan, for 3 years, age 27.  Mustered Oct. 15, 1861.  

"December 4th, [1861] Wednesday - Our hearts were sad this morning with the intelligence that one of our number is dead.

 Chamberlain is no more.  3 weeks ago, he was well and healthy.  Now he is dead ...  

December 5th, Thurs. - Went down town [West Point, Ky.] to pay our last respects to our departed friend Chamberlain.  

We played a dirge while he was carried on board the boat and that is all we can do for him.  It will be a sad blow for his folks at home ...
