• In maritime, it involves sending/receiving messages from ship to ship and ship to shore
• Can communicate messages through morse code with a telegraph

Navigation

• The process of finding a person’s position and planning and following a route
• In maritime, it is the process of directing the movements of watercraft from one point to another
• Can use different tools like a compass, sextant, gyrocompass, etc. to navigate
