Using Student Blogs in the Classroom

Learning Objective

  • Students will learn how to research using a Search Engine, such as Google, to find out information on their favorite animal.
  • Students will learn to attach pictures to a blog post.
  • Students will include a Title, 3+ paragraphs, and a Works Cited list of sources they used.

Summary of Activity

Students will make a blog post on the class Kidblog.org website. First, the teacher will post the Topic: Favorite Animals. The students will then be in charge of making a creative title, write at least 3 paragraphs, and do research to find the answers to the following questions about their chosen animal.

The blog post must answer: what is their favorite animal, what do they eat, where do they live, how much do they weigh, can they be a pet, and one “fun fact”.

Activity Continued...

Students must attach at least 3 pictures to the blog post.

Students will also be required to comment on another student's post, which will allow them to interact with their classmates.

They must make a positive comment that explains why they liked their classmates Favorite Animal post.
