EXPEDITION SAVE THE BALTIC SEA EMANATES FROM MANY YEARS OF SUSTAINABILITY WORK WITHIN THE PROJECT " SUSTAINABLE SEAS"

Made more than 200 port visits to cities in all countries around the Baltic Sea .

During the visits we have informed about the challenges of the Baltic Sea and local environmental problems

Participation in the UN climate conference COP15 in Copenhagen December 2009

We were a Platform of international meetings in the presence of HRH Crown Princess Victoria.

Organized and conducted 10 Baltic Sea seminars

For several years with the participation of researchers from Stockholm University, other academies and authorities and HRH the Crown Princess. These seminars have gathered thousands of visitors over the years and were also filmed and broadcasted on SVT

Participated in many years at the Almedal Week in Visby

Carried out seminars i.a. The environmental exhibition "The Baltic Sea - who cares", panel discussions and meetings about the Baltic Sea

Nominated for environmental award

Was nominated for the Nordic Council's big Nature and Environment Award with the exhibition

"The Baltic Sea - who cares" .

OUR VISION��THE ENVIRONMENT OF THE BALTIC SEA SHOWS TANGIBLE IMPROVEMENTS AND A NEGATIVE TREND HAS BEEN BROKEN.��THE BALTIC SEA CONTRACT WILL BE CONSIDERED A STRONG CONTRIBUTING FACTOR AND THE WORK WILL BE SEEN AS A PARADIGM SHIFT IN THE WAY OF CREATING REAL RESULTS

�� THE BALTIC SEA CONTRACT IS BASED ON A CENTRAL IDEA �WITH TWO DIMENSIONS��

Many citizens around the entire Baltic Sea sign a didigal contract with the Baltic Sea

They promise to treat the Baltic Sea well in various ways, for exampel not to flush chemicals down a drain - this will have some direct effect on the Baltic Sea

When many citizens have signed the contract, we can with great credibility influence importand power holders both on local and central level to make the necessary decisions, for example to stop the large-scale fishing of herring and to create more wetlands

This can have a huge impact

STATUS AND STRATEGY FOR CREATING INCREASING VOLUMES OF CONTRACTS

The contract was launched at the Stockholm Fair event "Allt för sjön" last spring

Up to now,1500 contracts have been signed with relatively little effort

In order to take new steps, collaboration will take place with many different actors:

NGO's
Cities and municipalities
Associations connected to the Baltic Sea
Companies
Schools
and hopefully with ROTARY around The Baltic Sea

We now meet great intrest to participate!
