What is NWEA?

NWEA is a research-based, not-for-profit organization that supports students and educators worldwide by creating assessment solutions that precisely measure growth and proficiency—and provide insights to help tailor instruction.

In other words… NWEA MAP Growth is an online Assessment that can be given up to 4x a year with 40-53 questions that adapts to the students’ levels.

Percent Correct

Number of items answered correctly divided by the total number of items in the test, multiplied by 100. Since MAP Growth tests are adaptive, we typically expect students to answer approximately 50% of the test questions correctly.

Functional Level

The grade level academics that the student is able to complete successfully.

Up to 20th percentile = “Low”

21st to 40th percentile = “LoAvg”

41st to 60th percentile = “Avg”

61st to 80th percentile = “HiAvg”

81st and above = “High”
