Current Priorities:

  • Finance & governance
    • SLA (via SURF?, budget via UNL (proposed to SPG), UKB is no legal entity)
    • Content Board? (what standards to use for exchange)
  • Functional management: increasing / improving coverage
    • Graph: Make all CRISes and repositories connect (70%) & stream content (50%)
    • Graph: Make all CRISs and repositories use the latest OpenAIRE Guidelines (40%)
    • Graph: Clean/Match all affiliation entities (ROR) (>10%)
    • Graph+Portal: Add NWO projects (NWO API release)

Beyond Next Narcis:

Who is governing the Portal and the flow of high quality metadata?

Who is financially supporting the maintanance and further development?

Are there needs for extra services on institutional level (adding to the national needs)?

Do we want to be actively involved with the further developmens of the Graph and Portal? (co-developing)

De want to be a member of OpenAIRE, or just a customer of the services?

What about the current implementation of EduStandard Metadata, and the WISH-group?

What about Long term Archiving research in the KB eDepot?

Technology Platform:

Does OpenAIRE suit all our needs? : No

Is there still a need for a National Graph? : Yes.

Why? :

  • OpenAIRE won’t move as fast.
  • OpenAIRE is a production Graph. They are not eager to experiment
  • We need to be able to extend to other entity types, like educational courses, media contributions, startups, patents, etc. Entities related for reporting on Recognition and Rewards .
  • We need to be able to hide privacy sensitive research information for public use.

Opportunities:

  • SciLake is a custom graph that allows community specifics.
  • Co-developing a fork of the OpenAIRE stack.
  • Linked data graph initiatives in the Cultural Herritage sector (eg. MetaBelgica)

Governance & Finance:

Top-Down example: �Irish model (NORF)

  • Monitoring Demanded by Irish government (+ financial support)
  • Irish University Libraries Association in charge of coordination the project and maintaining management post-project
  • Research performing and funding organisations were forced to use metadata standards for exchange. (bottom-up)
