Singular focus on livelihoods and increasing incomes for people living in poverty | - Operate in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Seek to increase people's ability to support themselves and their families
- Measure income increases for beneficiaries (or plan to do so) as key metric to illustrate their success
- We’ve invested so far in agriculture, entrepreneurship and workforce development interventions but are open to exploring other themes if they meet the above criteria
|
Data-driven and Evidence-based | - Interventions have achieved or show potential to have a 5x return on investment (ROI) within five years (preferably sooner). For example, if a training program costs $200, we hope to see the participant's future income be at least $1,000 higher than it would have been otherwise
- Some internal data collection and tracking mechanism are in place to substantiate income increase
- For Fund prospects: Robust and ideally externally validated data exists to substantiate income increase
|
| - African-led, African founded, and/or African headquarters, ideally all
- Staffed organization, even if small team
- A Board is either in place, or in the process of being set up
|
| - Have budgets between $150,000 and $1M per year
- Are reaching at least 300 people through their intervention
- Aspire to grow and scale their work and expand their impact over the next 3-10 years
