MAKE YOUR OWN SOLAR LANTERN!�

Using a Solar Garden Light and a Cup!

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 1 Solar Garden Light (the small kind from dollar stores)
  • 1 Plastic or Paper Cup
  • Scotch tape
  • Scissors (Ask an adult for help!)
  • Markers, Paint, Stickers (to decorate)

STEPS!

  • Step 1 — Make a Hole
    • Take the cup
    • Use scissors to make a small hole on the top of the cup (Be careful! Ask an adult if needed.)
  • Step 2 — Add the Solar Light
    • Remove the top part (the head) of the solar garden light.
    • Push the LED light through the hole you made in the cup.
  • Step 3 — Tape It Securely
    • Use scotch tape or a glue gun to stick the solar light and cup together (Be careful! Ask and adult if needed)
    • Make sure it doesn’t wobble

STEPS!

  • Step 4 — Decorate Your Lantern!
    • Use markers, paint, stickers, or anything you like.
    • Make it colorful and fun!
  • Step 5 — Charge It in the Sun
    • Put your lantern in sunlight for 5–10 minutes.
    • Then bring it into the shade.
    • The light will turn on — your lantern is ready!
