Walk On Wednesday

  • What?: Every Wednesday we gather together at the park at 9AM to walk to school together.
  • Why?: To reduce traffic congestion outside the school for at least one day a week and encourage children and adults to walk and realise it’s not that far to walk and to also reduce our carbon footprint.

Big Travel Challenge

  • October 2022: In October of 2022, we had a full week of walking to school from the park, on one occasion from that week we had 73% of the school walking, this was our biggest success to this date. This was our own ‘Big Travel Challenge.’

  • February 2023: This February, we had a very successful active month. We walked to school everyday for that month and we had a huge improvement from the other weeks. We never had less than 50% of the school walking everyday. We walked home from school on Monday and Wednesday.

Something that did not go well and why?

  • Sometimes the energy wardens sometimes forget to check if the lights are turned off and the doors are closed.
  • We were disappointed that the garden did not work out but we are hoping to start a new one next year.

Why we enjoy being on the Green School Committee

  • We enjoy being part of the committee because it helps the environment.
  • We get time out of class.
  • To help children learn about the environment and to make the world a better place .
  • And to do jobs you would not get to do if you weren’t on the committee .
