3. HANDWRITTEN OR DIGITAL

PROS

HANDWRITTEN

DIGITAL

CONS

  • Some judges prefer it
  • Organization -- all of the team work is in one place
  • Usually cheaper
  • One person working at a time
  • Handwriting can be hard to read
  • Manually print out & insert photos
  • Unless you are VERY TALENTED, it will probably be somewhat messy
  • Lost forever if the building burns down
  • Easier to share (Google Docs!)
  • Insert photos easily
  • Usually neater
  • You can go back and change/add things easily (especially photos and diagrams)
  • Less “organic” to some people because entries can be edited easily
  • Color printing costs more
  • Lost forever if computer/Google Drive dies

SAM THE MAN

Hello my name is Sam the Man I like to eat apples and build robots my favorite color is orange I stan Dean Kamen and Woody Flours my favorite hobby is swimming with sharks I love it when the robot disconnects in the middle of a match because I like to solve problems and watch people flail in frustration also I’m allergic to trophies but I like to learn things and this is definitely a placeholder

DEMO AT THE FAIR

9/10/17

The opening day of the Minnesota State Fair is known as “STEM Day.” This year, we went with High Tech Kids to demo our robot along with several other teams from around Minnesota. We spent five-ish hours talking to people and letting visitors drive the robot. Nancy in particular did a great job of engaging people as they walked by. After telling people about FTC, she encouraged them or their kids to try driving a robot.
