����������AP Exam Registration September 27 - October 31

  • AP Exam Registration closes Tuesday, October 31st at 11:59pm.

  • Registration is a TWO STEP process
    • 1. Go to www.totalregistration.net/AP/181425 to register and pay.
    • 2. Go to myap.collegeboard.org to make sure you’re enrolled in MyAP Classroom for each AP course you are taking.

  • Students must be enrolled in MyAP Classroom for an exam to be ordered through the College Board.

  • Cost: $38 per exam

College Visits

  • Most colleges are offering in person visits. Check college websites for specifics for each college.

  • In person school Policy: Juniors & Seniors may schedule college campus visits. These visits should not exceed a total of 3 school days.

  • The procedure:
    • 1) Student submits the Request for College Visit form in advance to their counselor. All Junior and Senior students received this form in their packet during Junior/Senior meetings. Also, it can be found on the Henry Clay Counseling website.
    • 2) Student brings confirmation of their visit to the attendance office upon their return to school.

  • Varies with College- check websites for specific info
  • Most charge an application fee
    • Students on free/reduced lunch should contact their counselor for a fee waiver.
  • Be aware of deadlines
    • Early Decision (Binding- only 1)
    • Restrictive or Single Choice Early Action(Binding-1)
    • Early Action (Non-Binding)
    • Regular Decision (Non-Binding)
    • Scholarship deadlines are usually early

  • Official transcripts are required for college applications. Colleges prefer to get transcripts electronically. Henry Clay uses Parchment.
  • Students create their account & requests transcripts to be sent at www.parchment.com
  • If using the Common App or Coalition App your transcript will be sent through these programs. www.commonapp.org or www.coalitionforcollegeaccess.org
    • Check the websites to see which schools accept them
    • Make sure to invite your counselor- contact your counselor to make sure they receive the invite
  • Please allow at least 2 weeks for processing of applications.

Some colleges will require additional materials such as:

    • Essay(s)
    • Supplemental Application
    • Teacher/Other recommendations
    • Interview

*Pay close attention to college websites and their application checklists to make sure you submit a complete application.

Letters of Recommendation and Resumes

  • A recommendation letter from your counselor is required for some college applications.
  • Seniors should complete the Senior Info Sheet via the link provided to them during Senior Meetings.
  • The Senior Info Sheet and a resume are very helpful to the counselor in producing the recommendation letter.
    • Please include awards, accomplishments, activities, etc. in your resume.
    • Submit your resume to the counselor at the beginning of your application process.
  • Also please be considerate in asking for recommendations at least 2 weeks before they are needed.

Financial Aid- FAFSA December 2024

  • Every student considering going to college should complete the FAFSA online. The online application opens sometime in December and students should fill it out as soon as possible.
  • FAFSA = Free Application for Federal Student Aid

  • Students & a parent can go ahead and create FSA ID now at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
  • Some schools require a supplemental form–CSS Profile—be sure to check with the financial aid office at each college.

Scholarship Information

  • 1. Always apply for scholarships directly from colleges.

KEES (Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship)

  • Students who make at least a 2.5 GPA can earn a base scholarship amount every year.
  • The better the grades, the more money earned to pay for college.
  • Students can also earn a bonus award for at least a 15 on ACT.
  • Must be a US citizen and KY resident.
  • Students must have their SSN on file at HC to receive KEES money. Students were notified in Advisory if SSN is needed.
